Supposedly was part of the crew of Lord William Bentinck and landed in New Zealand in 1841 (see http://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz/tm/scholarly/tei-WarEarl-t1-body-d8-d15.html...). His burial record can be found in the India Office Records http://tinyurl.com/k2mor6h (permission required for access). The Marriage Register reveals that John Anderson was married to Anne Barber, a widow, in 1845 at Fort William and the marriage was solemnised by Ralph Etison, the garrison chaplain.
