[Note: A correspondent, Ellen Lindsay, makes the following claim:
Daniel McDonald, died 1830. Lair 658 - the database lists him as being "Accountant to the Ganges Steam Navigation Company". In fact the Daniel McDonald who was the Accountant actually died in 1859, and I suspect that he is the son of Daniel in Lair 658 (I will be able to prove that soon). I do have the documentary evidence in the form of a copy of his will, that Daniel who died in 1830 was a Merchant in Calcutta).]
The Asiatic Journal and Monthly Register Vol. 3 mentions the death of a Daniel McDonald in April 1830. Daniel McDonald is listed as a merchant.
