Detailed information: 

He was enrolled in the army at the age of 14 on June 22, 1822 with the ref. no. 1/3945/14. He thereafter became the Cornet. Ensign. 2nd Lieutenant on May 2, 1823. He became a Lieutenant on the 8th of Sept 1826 and finally a Captain on the 10th of September 1841. After his death his wife Charlotte received an annual pension of Rs. 147.16. His daughter Emma also received a pension of Rs. 40 per annum till marriage.

Snow is listed as being an assistant deputy secretary of the military board of Madras (headed by the Commander-in-Chief). As part of the 24th regiment of Native Infantry, he is listed as being stationed in Penang and Malacca. (Source: India Office Library, East-India Register and Directory, 1841, 2nd Edn.)
