Detailed information:

Emily Augusta Jahans was the second daughter of John Jahans Jnr. from his first marriage to Elizabeth Jahans. The Jahans family was of Portuguese origin and was closely attached to the Lalbazar Baptist Church. John Jahans Jnr married Elizabeth Jahans in 1816 and had six children from the marriage, including Emily Augusta Jahans. Elizabeth Jahans passed away in 1828 and is buried in the same grave as her daughter. Jahans Jnr. moved to Agra around early 1830s and married Margaret Hay. The marriage record suggests by profession Jahans was a merchant in Agra. In 1842 Jahans became associated with the Agra Savings Fund of the Uncovenanted Service Bank. Jahans Jnr became the director of the Fund in 1843 and his son Joseph Jahans joined him in the directorial board in 1845. John Jahans Jnr. passed away in Agra in the year 1854.
