James Meik b. 1759 p.33 B.322, b. 1759 C.C.S 1783 Asst. Surgeon 16 Mar 1783 Surg 20 May 1796 SS: 17 Dec 1812 MMB (member of medical board) 21 Jan 1819 President (of medical board) 28 Feb 1826 R. 21 Feb 1829 d. in Calcutta 25 Apr 1837. D and M spell name Meick also spelt Meek in Roll of Corp. Surg. 3rd Maratha / Pindari War 1817-18 as S.S (senior surgeon).

His will lists many expensive items and a large collection of books (no titles mentioned). It also mentions a house in Middleton Street, Chowringhee renting at Rupees 35,000. His eldest son, James Patrick Meik, was a lieutenant in H.M 49th Regiment stationed in Fort William.
