Charles Sunder was an assistant teacher at La Martiniere School, Calcutta. He married Louisa Maria Jones in 1843 and their son Alfred Richmond died in infancy (in 1847). They had another son, Charles Mark Sunder (b. 1845). He remarried Cecilia Rose Vaillant (daughter of Charles Louis Vaillant) of Bowbazar and his will bequeaths his property to his second wife and their children. Charles Sunder went to become the registrar, marine superintendent's office and later the superintendent of printing at the Accountant General's office and died in 1863 of consumption (tuberculosis). His son by Louisa Maria, Charles Mark Sunder lived until 1861 and his father is listed as the beneficiary in his will. From his second marriage, his children were Charles Edward Sunder, who became a civil surgeon in Purneah (See Crawford, Roll of the Indian Medical Service B.2244 and Cecilia Ada Emily Newing (wife of Robert Daniel Marquis Newing, assistant at Dykes & Co.).
